For reasons known only to the Youtube AlGore rhythm, a scene from The Producers bubbled up to the top of my feed. It was the auditions for the role of Hitler. I had nothing better to do, so I thought why not. The only time I saw that movie, I was too young to appreciate it beyond the Mel Brooks Vaudeville slapstick feel, so after watching the clip I was intrigued at the whole premise and had to go read the Wikipedia article.
The audition scene was humorous, satirizing hippies and Broadway, but in light of Miles’ outing of Adolf as a gay Jewish actor, suddenly the whole movie made sense in a new way.
The producers in The Producers figured out that if they scammed investors into funding a flop, they could make more money than if the play succeeded. But they had to convince investors it would succeed, which took a lot of talent, and chutzpa. When it flopped, the investors would supposedly walk away from it in shame, and no one would bother to audit the loss.
The 3rd Reich and WWII, being the racket Smedley Butler said it was, could have been exactly this. Its producers wanted to get rich off of people funding a war destined to fail. Like Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp With Adolf and Eva at Berchtesgaden, it’s an unexpected hit, and the investors wanted their payout. Maybe that’s why we had the Pacific Theater, and the Cold War.
Maybe Mel Brooks was telling us to our faces, but we all thought he was joking.

I rented The Producers yesterday. What a piece of crap. I get it that Mel Brooks was new at this, but as a comedy film it was awful. The comedic timing was off, the acting was shallow, the directing was cringey. It reminded me of a bad Restoration comedy, or a Vaudeville skit that went on way too long. The only thing that movie had going for it was the aspect I mentioned above, which may be why it was so heavily promoted as some kind of brilliant farce. They love to shove the truth in our faces in the form of a nugget of filet mignon embedded in a shit sandwich. When we reject one, we reject the other.

I am not really following the unexpected hit of WWII and the pay out? Was it that it cost a fortune and the investors (bankers) wanted to be paid from all the participants fo0r the next 50+ years. I know Britain was paying its war debt for at least that long. But, I think I am misinterpreting your point and you have probably forgotten what you meant now!

We’ll get rich!” Phoenician B: “No, not so soon after the last one, it’ll flop.” Phoenician A: “Then let’s just scam everyone into funding it. We don’t need a good war, just a fake one will do.” Phoenician B: “But they’ll find out!” Phoenician B: “Not if we control the media. We tell everyone there’s fierce fighting and thousands of deaths, so they’ll pay even more money. They won’t find out it was all fake until Miles Mathis publishes Lestrade’s papers!”

LezLuthor on Youtube made a good point. Why run a fake war instead of a real war? You can’t control a real war. A real war would be over too quick. Why is Russia still buggering Ukraine? That should have been over “by Christmas” as they used to say. Because the illusion of war serves a purpose; a real war wouldn’t. Orwell covered that nicely.

Absolutely, it might even feel very real to the soldiers on the front line (I have no way of telling what is going on there) but there is definitely a plan behind it all. As you point out there is no way (in my mind) that Ukraine would be able to hold out against Russia for more than six months. Strange (to me) that it is still going on - I thought that cow would have run out of milk by now. LL are interesting initials, might explain his presence on YT eh! Talking of money made from war. I had an urge to look up US F1 driver Logan Sergeant, on the old wiki (to figure out why he is still in a car) turns out his uncle is a billionaire ex navy pilot, who served 11 years between 1979 and 1987, left became a Delta Airlines pilot and then made lots of money (the aforementioned billions) selling fuel to US military in Iraq during the second gulf war - presumably because S. Arabia were fresh out. It is all too hilarious really, especially the time warping fighter pilot career. There must be someone round here who has noticed that some people quite like the number 11.
