Fact is, beards, goatees and moustaches tend to get dirty, scruffy and itchy, especially on men that are too lazy to shave or take care of them. Some women find them offputting. Besides, a greying beard no doubt makes any man appear much older. Unkempt, disheveled beards often mean neglect and lack of self-care, like in oldies who let themselves go.
When you're middle-aged and older, wearing clothing for teeenagers and 20 y-olds (eg. graphic T-shirts and hoodies) makes you look cheap and a bit desperate if not silly, trying too hard to appear much younger. Not a wise choice, even for jogging.
