I wanted to start a forum to discuss things like Covid openly some months back or maybe last year on one of the ProBoards sites. I found that on ProBoards, which this forum is part of, I think, it said that it would not permit antivax discussions or something like that.
So I think this may not be an ideal forum, unless they don't bother to police it as their terms of service say.
I found that Webboards.org apparently does not censor. But I haven't tried having a forum there.

Let us just wait what happens, it is possible our actual moderators shut us down, strange i thought i was the moderator...
Regards, Daniel

If it's the thread I started that is the problem, how about coming up with a different spelling whenever we discuss it? We can call it Kovid or something?
I changed the title of that thread

So is stillsmoking a bot or what? is stillsmoking a pun on cutting through the fog, ie the fog is not cut, there is still smoke...My first association was the 'hidious smoking monster' in Miles' announcement on the Updates page. Also 'still smoking' = "I'm still here", if you know this Geenstijl-meme where they tell you in a 'funny' way that somebody died by saying he or she 'quit smoking'. I've no idea how international this joke is btw.

I think you're not going to find any host that will not be moderating or censoring the kind of discussions we would have. We would have to go to in-person or p2p mailing lists to really have freedom of speech amongst each other. After all, the internet is their creation.
My suggestion to move to a forum was mainly for ease of use in sorting topics and ease of long discussions, I had no illusions about us being free from the Electric Eye.

Miles could theoretically install it on his own domain and appoint moderators. Then there would be no question about a hidden hand.

this phpBB might have been mentioned earlier on CttF, maybe by Jared et all. it's a sort of Unix [open-source]-version of all these forum-programs, right?
As opposed to all these 'free forum' sites, like WordPress, they're just Facebook-Google in the disguise of some independant dingy.
And then to put up a phpBB Forum would require a self-hosted WWW-site, which would not be free, but need money [ not even that much, so, yeah...]

The terms of service left me cold. Why not try web boards if what you're saying is correct how that they don't censor??

I'd favor Webboards.org, at least to try it out, but if we want to stay here and use euphemisms or dysphemisms, maybe we could get practice at learning how to speak under totalitarianism.

What are you implying? That I'm a hypocrite for being here?? I just got here from cutting. I thought we're still trying to figure out the best scenario for a forum. Am I not supposed to offer any suggestions??
